Hearing loss in children can affect their ability to develop normal speech and language. Early detection and treatment is vital to a child’s educational development and health.
Our facilities allow us to assess children from about 6 months of age, that is, as soon as your child can turn their head. Several audiological testing techniques can be used according to your child’s age or development.
Your child’s results will be discussed at the end of the appointment and a letter sent to your referring GP, speech pathologist or teacher, if required.
If your child has not attended our practise over the past year, please allow one hour for your child’s hearing assessment.
Call your private health insurance to check your hearing rebates as this assessment is not usually performed under Medicare unless part of a chronic care plan pre-determined by your doctor.
Book a hearing assessment if you have any concerns.
