What is Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is described as any sound generated by the brain or ear that the client can hear. Tinnitus can sound like a ring, click, chirp, buzz, hiss, or a frying noise.
Tinnitus Assessment and Management:
This is a specialised area of Audiology and should be performed by those who have had advanced training and are competent in this area. As an Advanced Neuromonics Tinnitus Consultant and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Practitioner, Philippa has helped many tinnitus sufferers over the last 15 years.
The tinnitus assessment includes an extensive tinnitus evaluation, high frequency audiometry to 14kHz, a set of standard audiological tests as well as specialised tinnitus tests and counselling. A referral for further medical investigation will be recommended if required. Initial tinnitus counselling and guidelines to manage your tinnitus will be provided during this appointment.
For new tinnitus clients please allow 1.5 hours for an initial assessment.
Further tinnitus counselling and sound therapy management is available to reduce the negative tinnitus feedback loop on a case-by-case basis.
